LANDING GEAR POSITION INDICATION

The Landing gear position is indicated on the middle right side of the EICAS display as shown in the figure below. They are four types of indications which are clearly listed below.

DOWN: the green DN label inside a green circle indicates that the respective landing gear is down and locked

TRANSIT: the amber cross-hatched box indicates that the respective landing gear is in transit.

UP: the white UP label inside a white box indicates that the respective landing gear is up and locked

DISAGREEMENT: a red icon indicates a discrepancy between Landing gear lever position and the respective landing gear position. The indication changes from its previous color to red 20 seconds after the discrepancy is detected.

Auxiliary Power Unit (referred to as APU), A small turbine engine capable of providing compressed air to the bleed air system and AC electrical power to the electrical system. The Auxiliary power unit is most often used while parked on the ground to:-
·         Provide a sufficient volume of pressurized air to the bleed air supply system which makes it possible to operate both air conditioning packs.
·         Provide 40Kva AC electric power to the aircraft, enough to fully power the entire electrical system.
The auxiliary power unit can also be used in flight for electrical power should the airplane be dispatched with an engine-driven generator know to be inoperative.

MFD DISPLAY PHILOSOPHY

MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY

The MFD presents map and plan navigation formats and various system synoptic formats selectable by the flight crew. The MFD provide redundancy to display both the PFD and EICAS formats based upon reversion. It also has the display maintenance information. The MFD consists of menu soft keys, on the top and bottom of screen, which are used to select formats and control system.
